MODEL AGRICULTURAL SUPPLY

Model Agricultural Supply started its operation on April 8, 1989 as a sole proprietorship with business address at Angel Salcedo Street, Sara, Iloilo.  At first, it does retail business only and its customers were the farmers in the vicinity.  The products sold were pesticides and fertilizers.

After two years of successful operation, the first branch was opened in 1991 in Batad, Iloilo with two stalls. Several branches were opened later – in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo in 1993; in Balasan, Iloilo in 1996; a Warehouse in Sara, Iloilo in 1996; another store was opened in Sara, Iloilo in 1998; and in the following year, another store started its operation in Balasan, Iloilo.

Wholesale business, in addition to retail, was launched on May 10, 2006 and the company was named Model Agro Sales.  Goods sold as wholesaler are pesticides, fertilizers, corn and palay seeds, vegetable seeds and other agricultural products.

Model Agro Sales envisions itself to be a number one business partner of all Agricultural Dealers and Farmers in Visayas Region in providing services and agricultural inputs.

After 25 years in operation, Model Agro Sales have 38 employees and staff- the strong, dedicated and hardworking 26 men and 12 women behind the success of the company. There are now seven (7) retail owned stores in Northern Panay and eight (8) owned warehouses around Panay Island where bags of Atlas fertilizers are stored.

In 2006, the company started to have a Scholarship Program for children of farmers and employees of Model Agro Sales in any State Colleges and Universities in the Province of Iloilo. At present, the company has 10 Scholars.

The company holds annually a Family Day wherein employees and their families receive gifts, partake the sumptuous lunch, participate in games, singing and dance contests, and join in the raffle of prizes. Every year, employees have medical and dental checkup. The company holds bible study every week for the spiritual guidance of employees. During summer months, the company offers overnight outing and trips both domestic and foreign to employees.

Aside from the Scholarship Program, the company annually conducts gift giving every Christmas to indigents of Poblacion Ilawod, Sara, Iloilo and distribution of school supplies every school opening to Elementary pupils and High School students. Model Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative with 70 members is also a recipient every year of the gift giving and school supplies distribution.

When Super Typhoon Yolanda hit the Northern Part of Iloilo and Capiz last November 8, 2013, Model Agro Sales employees and staff gave relief goods to victims in the Municipalities of Sara, Batad, San Dionisio, Balasan, and Barotac Viejo, all in the Province of Iloilo despite the fact that the company itself, was also a victim of the disaster in terms of infrastructure.
